Stuff, On taking as much as you can home when things go bad

Once the newness of your library job wears off, and unhappiness starts to set in, quantify your dissatisfaction by taking home anything that is not nailed down to the counters. After something bad happens, like a fight with a co-worker, a freeze on wage increases, your boss is an ass, etc., go to the supply cabinet and take stuff home. Go on, take it. It will make you feel better and really, isn't that what life is all about?

our supply cabinet has stuff like fossilized white-out, dried-up glue sticks, and blank floppy disks. Not much of an antidote to "our boss is an ass."

Back before King Missile got their novelty hit and went all pseudo-heavy, an early favorite was "Take Stuff from Work" - lyrics at this page. The EP it's on, "Fluting on the Hump," is worth getting. You can find a CD version for sale on that South American river-thingy, or your favorite indie trader.

As I always say "If you are not shopping at work, you are paying too much."

I "borrow" things for school...I swear I will pay it back...that is the only way I don't feel guilty, even though I have never actually paid them back.

I have a lovely circa 1950's OD green office chair at home. Oh, the perks of librarianship.

First I have to clean out all the stuff around my desk so I can get to the cabinets. You are sooo funny. As if any of us have job dissatisfaction?

The sensible person liberates as much stuff as possible long before things go bad, while they still have the energy for heavy lifting.

This is why one wears relaxed fit jeans to work.

HAHAHAHA so passive aggressive. Right up my alley!

A good rule of thumb is:

If it doesn't fit in your car...pick it up later

If it doesn't fit in the car, steal the library van.

In every job that I hated I have borrowed a few things (electronics, usually) to take home - then, if I'm fired, I consider them lovely parting gifts.

i enjoy your blogs humor, but i really couldnt steal from work. i have accidentally taken pens home with me and then made sure to bring them back to work. how "librarianish" is that?
