Mug, Your ugly

Librarians should choose clever coffee mugs to express themselves creatively around the workplace. A person's mug says a lot about him or her. For example, your "An oyster a day keeps the Viagra away!" mug explains to your library colleagues both your bad breath and your boners.

Ask the readers: What's the best/worst coffee mug used at your library?

Please tell us you made that up about the oysters. I am still laughing over the idea a librarian would have that on a mug at work.

Here, we have someone with a mug that has a one hundred dollar bill draped around it (painted, not an actual bill lol). Because nothing says "I'm broke" like a mug depicting a large denomination bill. Sad thing? The employee who has it actually recycled the mug (it had been left in the break room for ages).

Mine has the LC classification for coffee on it:

TX
415

I wish we were a Dewey library, though, so I could have 641.3373 instead. The way it is now, everyone thinks my mug has to do with Texas, or with Tax day being April 15.

I have one with the Three Wise Men and baby Jesus that says, "Happy Chanukah." Does that count?

I used to have a mug decorated with an American flag and with the imprint (in very large letters):

BE AMERICAN!
BUY AMERICAN!

In small print underneath:

Made in Japan

When our library first moved into the shopping centre (just before Xmas) there was a stall doing bespoke inscriptions on mugs. We bought a dozen saying: "Bollocks to Santa."

It took three years for the mangement to find and impound them all.

Visitors loved them.

We had a mug at our Main Library that was passed around as needed - shaped like a pregnant woman's belly. Whenever someone got preggers, the mug would pass to them. I never drank from it, but it did sit on my desk for several weeks until the next person announced her pregnancy.

My mug has Princess Leia on one side and the other side says "Don't even think about touching my coffee you stuck up, half-witted, scruffy looking nerf herder!"

Yes, I am a geek and proud of it!

The worst mug at my library is the one that is inevitably left in the sink, unwashed, day after day after day...

I thought it would be the mug with the county seal and the dopey motto about Proud of Our Past Excited About Our Future, but it turns out there was a mug with a photo of a kitten wearing a little crown. Clear winner.

Mine reads "THIS PLACE WILL DRIVE YOU TO DRINK". I got it at Goodwill.

It replaced my previous mug, which was coal black and read "Life's a bitch. Then you die", which was pinched by a manager.

I show my library pride. I have one of those decorate-your-own mug jobbies from Starbucks. I took a photo of our library's patterned carpet and printed it out and used it as my mug insert. I am always coordinated with the library, because I am of the library. My mug is one with the library. Plus my coffee's gonna end up on the carpet anyway, it might as well feel at home.

My mug has a biohazard symbol on the side, matches my mouse pad - I think it says "this chick is kinda strange, but also cool".

My mug has Henry the VIII and his six wives. Pour in a hot beverage, and the wives fade away! (The box actually read- "Henry VIII & His Disappearing Wives Mug") I wish Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard's heads just disappeared but left their bodies. That'd be sick and twisted, but cool.

@Lorem Ipsum: LOL! Did you custom your own mug, or do they actually sell mugs with LC classification on it? On ThinkGeek, maybe? :-)
