Web sites, Abandoning

The best library Web site is a library Web site that doesn't need to be updated. Libraries can save valuable human and technical resources by removing all links, staff directories, hours, and other "changeable" information on their pages. Additionally, by disconnecting the phones and locking the library's doors, the librarians will suddenly find more time for meeting with one another to discuss the design and effectiveness of the library's Web site.

Reminds me of when I worked in the library at TCU here in Fort Worth. We all liked it during semester breaks when the students left campus. It was nice and quiet -- as any good library should be -- until "they" returned to mess up "our" library decorum.

Thanks for the giggle...I needed one today! I know what you mean by a quiet library! I have been pondering about students lately though and I'm wondering if we are going back to the basics. I have found that the majority of the students desire the quietness of the library and have found it a nice place to have some peace and quiet. We aren't all that strict about silence, but we do like to be able to hear ourselves think! Could it be that kids' lives are so hectic and full of activities these days that they simply desire a place of solitude and escape from the outside world also?

Yeah, it's terrible when people abandon things--like websites and library blogs.

I had every intention of making fun of this blog title, but Ray beat me to it.
