Schlepping, Stylishly

A librarian should use a square-bottomed, post-consumer recycled Trader Joe's grocery tote as a briefcase or purse.  It is large enough to hold your knitting, your book, your laptop, your cats, and your enormous lack of fashion sense.

ummm, so....I shouldn't be doing this? Cuz, I use a stylish TARGET green bag for lugging stuff!

I guess I'm a trendsetter then ;)

I've been using a lovely TJ's bag to carry my purse, books, bottle of water, tissues, and other necessities, for years now

Bah! Real library staff use IKEA bags. They are bigger, cheaper and brighter.

but is it okay to use a similar bag from Urban Outfitters? because that store is cool.

Hmmm... so a bag with a library logo is cooler, right?

Nope, only Trader Joe's works. After moving to a state with no TJ's (the travesty), I've resorted to ONLY using Trader Joe's bags to identify myself as one of the cool ones. Unfortunately, I'm not yet stylish enough to use them beyond grocery shopping.

How about being a post-consumer recycler and also a bicycle commuting librarian.

Seems like it might be a bad idea to bring more than one cat to work.

The grumpiest librarian at my library only uses paper bags from TJs to schlep her stuff. I always knew I worked with the coolest of the cool.

I use a tote bag from a Jenny Lewis concert. I really think I AM cool, but I'm probably wrong. After all, I went to a concert and bought yet another tote bag.

damn... I have dogs! I knew I was getting this whole librarian thing wrong.. and I carry a cloth totebag I got @ the TWU booth when I told them I was planning on attending their school for my MLS (which I am). I'm totally uncool, aren't I? Guess it's time to pull out the "I used to be a plastic bottle" totebag from whole foods and that stuffed cat that my sister got from one of her veterinary vendors and "pretend" to fit in :D

Dear God! I'm trying to figure out which one of my uber-chic colleagues turned me in.

Oh, no. That makes me not in the fashion loop. I use a messenger bag to carry my laptop and planner. What shall I do? ;P

I just saw the part in the original post about about the cats. My furbabies are 15 pounds and 13 pounds.
