Potluck meals, Contributing to

Librarians should not offer crunched up Snickers bars from the staff vending machine as their contributions to the library staff potluck. If you forget to bring a dish, select the Kit-Kat bars instead.

Or, grab one bag of peanuts, two bags of chips (crushed lightly) and those mini-pretzels and place inside one of the ubiquitous, funky vases hanging around the back of the coat closet (dusted, of course!). You'll be considered 'posh' with that kind of an offering! :)

All the candy bars in our vending machine melted. Repeatedly. We refused to buy them; they expired. Then we were told they wouldn't be replaced until we, the library staff, bought them. Then we would get fresh ones. SO. LAME. And possibly illegal, but it doesn't matter because then they took our vending machine away.
