When constructing a LibGuides profile page, librarians should budget at least one hour for snapping an adequately flattering arm’s-length self-portrait profile picture with a mobile phone camera. If this hour proves fruitless, just use a picture of your cat.
Ask the Readers: Do you like your LibGuides profile pic? If so, share a link in the comments below.

I didn't spend an hour but I did take it myself. And I'm so pale in this picture (taken last December right before Winter Commencement)I look like Casper the Friendly Ghost's redheaded sister.

Ha! I used one from facebook. Me kissing a starbucks cup, classy.
Don't forget spending the next hour editing it in Photoshop so that I look ten pounds thinner.
I used my passport picture. I look a bit like an ax murderer but it was easier than spending hours trying unsuccessfully to get a good one. Anyway I generally take my profile off my libguides.
Our manager brought in a photographer to take them - she took at least a dozen of me, then only gave me a choice of two. I don't like either of them.....
Why in the world do we need a profile photo for a libguide?
It's nice SEEING the librarian who created the guide. It helps put a face to a name.
I like mine. But I used a Yahoo avatar, so I cheated.
I also used one from facebook. I had a death grip on some Harry Potter books. Thought it was fitting. . . http://blueridge.libguides.com/profile/a_norvell
I edited an existing image into a head shot that I'm using. It took a bit of time, but at least I didn't have to wait for a good hair day.
The librarians at my library are so anti-social that they refused to put pictures of themselves on their profile. Instead you see kitty cats, dolls, etc..
I used yearbookyourself to get a nice 1950's look going. Took me less than five minutes.
Cropped a snapshot taken while dining at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.
