- I'm swamped
- I'm drowning
- I'm barely able to keep my head above water
- I'm barely able to tread water
- I'm flooded
- I'm in over my head
- I'm sinking

Darn, No wonder I've been ahving problems. I've been saying "I can't find my ass with my hands."
I'm up to my arse in alligators.
It shows not only that you are swamped, but also that you are being attacked unfairly.
It's not really a water reference, but I lke it anyhow -- "I'm touching cotton here!"
How 'bout a sign on your door--Not Now, I'm mired in a morass of muck.
Being a swim coach, as well as a librarian, I sadly use these expressions all the time. How shameful to be called on it!
"I'm choking on bong water" is good because it has a water and a drug reference.
