Luddite, Being the Library's

Every library needs a luddite librarian. If your library doesn't have one, feel free to assume this role. Don't turn on your computer for weeks at a time, shun the online catalog, and fight tooth and nail to retain subscriptions to the paper periodical indexes.

Although we had had the Library Catalogue online for fifteen years, allowing all the usual searches, our Reference Librarians insisted on putting the kibosh it by having a large part of their stock shelved in order of acquisition(!!!), with a Rolodex on the windowsill for you to search for the title you want (there were a lot of "T" for "The" and "D" for "Directory") so that you could find the number that should be on the sticker that they put on the spine of the book.

A similar situation was the bay of books they had shelved in order of height...

Also, you need a serials librarian who refuses to respond to reports of trouble accessing e-journals by saying, "It doesn't matter if you can get the full text online, you should just use the print."
