A polite librarian should never report problems or make suggestions to his or her Webmaster about the library’s Web site. Instead, design and launch a rival library Web site that is infinitely better and see if you can steal away all the traffic from the original.
Ask the readers: Do you have a library Web site that needs to be challenged and put out of its misery? Share links in the comments below.

Do I ever. This thing looks like it hasn't been updated since the mid-90's. And that's being generous.

holy shit Montgomery, that is just painful.
It's like somebody tried to throw together about 4 different systems and hoped they'd play nice:

If you search the catalog, it takes you to a different system.
If you try to review your account, you're redirected something like 4 times to yet ANOTHER system.
Placing a hold on books redirects to yet another.
This thing is held together with spit and Scotch tape, I think.
I think this is the worst I've seen. I used to work here, and I love the place dearly! But their webpage definitely needs a bit of an update:

We've been in the process of "redesign" for about 3 years. It will never happen because the part time webmaster is holding it hostage waiting for a full time job (which will never come).

The Montgomery site? It was worse...this is the improved site! Here is what it, until very recently, looked like:

http://www.librarieshawaii.org/
I was trying to click the link for this library (my old home town):
http://www.derbypubliclibrary.org/
But then I accidentally clicked this link and found more library website fun:
http://bflib.org/
Someone had time to write that?
Whoa whoa whoa, what the HELL was that last one? Is that a real library?

Scrolling text FTW!
The designer of the Indian national library site clearly took some lessons from the Bud Uggly web design people.
hahahahaha
