Perverted, Being
Librarians who attend the Public Library Association's National Conference should be on the lookout for the most perverse group of librarians that ever existed... those that present at library conferences with no consideration of tenure and promotion. /shudder/

I've done it so I could put it on my resume to look good for my *next* job.
Plus sometimes it's just a good excuse to get away from work for a few days to recharge and remember how bad it looks on your resume to get fired for soaping the boss' windshield.
Public librarians are nicer and smarter than academic librarians, so their conferences are actually somewhat pleasant.
