Thank you, Saying

Nothing says, “Thanks for covering for me while I was away at a conference” to your library’s staff like a free Innovative Interfaces ink pen/highlighter combo that you pilfered from a vendor booth.

Ask the readers: Do you have a favorite vendor pen? Tell us about it in the comments below.

Pens? I only whore myself for tote bags.

Are there any good enough to be favourites? The ones I get fall apart (i.e., the plastic threading strips and the spring comes flying out) or the "chrome" finish peels off.

I rarely use the chotchkies I nab from shows anyway--except for the APA notepads I took when the vendors were distracted. There are four "grab bags" of vendor junk in my closet at home.

BNA - nice fat pen with a squishy foam section on it.

Many years ago I got a flashlight pen from the UCSD Libraries. I felt like a movie reviewer every time I wrote with it.

One year I got a great retractable metal measuring tape from USGS. Good times.

Troll pen/pencil toppers! Not sure who the vendor is, but they're wonderful.

I have a drawerful of pens that don't work, just waiting to be used as 'Thanks-but-no-thanks' gifts.

Yes I agree that librarians are tote bag whores. LOL :) I am one of them.

Not a library vendor, but I got a great pen from a local locksmith that was so awesome when it ran out of ink a year later... I made a special trip and had some keys copied just to get another one!

I received a pen that was clear and had red stars and glitter in it. And it worked too!

I had a vendor pen that had blowing bubbles and a bubble wand built into it! Coolest pen ever!

I had to explain to my boss that though I liked cats I had no interest in Baker & Taylor's cat pins.

I think we should start a sub thread just about B&T's cat schwag.

Yes, we should start a thread on B&T cat schwag! I have their evil cat bag that was forced upon me at a conference. The menacing stare from the cats creeps me out!

Ooh, years ago I got the best pen. It was a promo for a new medical thriller murder mystery thing. It was clear plastic and shaped like a hypodermic syringe. Inside the main body of it was red liquid that looked like blood. Strangely, though, it wrote in blue ink. Red would have been best. Because, of course, Red Is Best (spot the elementary teacher-librarian)
