Banned books, Showcasing

Librarians should celebrate Banned Books Week by showcasing all the really nasty, perverted sex books they buy for their libraries. You know, the raunchy, titillating ones.  With the photographs.

Ask the readers: What is the nastiest book in your library?

Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia

It's nasty for a different reason.

@Anon

I laughed so hard I spit tea out my nose.

@Anon, maybe you could use Eat, Pray, Love to sop that up before it ruins "the good books."

Note: haven't actually read EPL yet, but I'm willing to play along.

Hysteric Four : Femalien by Charlie White. Contains nude photos of a woman in alien costume. The oddest thing of all is that I work at a business library.

There's no such thing as nasty in a Health Sciences Library.

The Bible.

If patrons hadn't already cut all the pictures out, I'd say it was the Mapplethorpe coffeetable book.

I've cataloged a few ophthalmology and I would beg to defer. (shudder)

I run a sexual health library. You've just described all the books we have - which I use in displays all the time :)

My former library celebrated banned book week by placing famous banned books and challenged books in a glass display case for a month...ensuring no one checked them out.

Maisy Goes Swimming

Again, nasty for another reason... and I'm probably the only one that thinks so.

PS: I worked in a medical libary for a short period of time. A children's medical library. The periodicals... oh the periodicals.

@Cool Young Librarian

Apparently you may not be the only one that thinks 'Maisy Goes Swimming' is nasty - all the copies available in our catalogue are REF and you can't place holds.

What's so bad about swimming Maisy???

At second glance, the general note added is kinda skeezy, but that could just be me.
