Nominating, Self-

Never nominate yourself for an award or prize even if self-nominations are encouraged. Such egotistical gestures are undignified, vain, and narcissistic. Instead, delegate this task to one of your subordinates.

If I nominate you guys do I get a share of the prize money?

If my blogging alter ego nominates me for a prize is that egotism or just asking for a mental health intervention?

But if I don't nominate myself, who will? I'm too busy reading library blogs to get out there and network with real, live colleagues.

I once nominated myself for Employee of the Year. I was actively searching for other jobs, and I mentioned the nomination on my job applications. Nobody needed to know that I nominated myself.

Due to a combination of slack attitudes and general managerial lassitude I was once put in the position of having to write the reference for my current employer to let my prospective employer know what a splendid chap I'd been about the workplace.

I said that I didn't seem to steal many office supplies. Needless to say, I got the job.
