Patrons, Dating

Librarians should always consider their clientele as a potential dating pool. You never know... occasionally one of your homeless patrons just might be desperate enough to be seen in public with you.

LOL... I don't know about dating the homeless, but the Library can be a fertile environment to meet women. I've dated my share... Humm, maybe I shouldn't use the word "fertile."

Well, it doesn't work so well when you work in Youth Services, particularly when it is just mornings in the children's department. There are not many men at all, and those that are there are usually with their small children or are exceptionally creepy--hence their spending large amounts of time hanging around the children's section.

You must be joking.

LOL. Ya, I've known a few guys who thought librarians were super hot...they actually were pretty hot themselves. They always went to the local libraries to scout out the women...lol. However, if you can't find someone to date, it's always amusing to watch patrons hook up at the library...esp. the teenagers who are there under the guise of "studying"...lol.

Blech! Dating sounds like a revolting prospect: how about "Librarian appreciation day?"
Give your fav. librarian a gift or $money under the table or some little something? extra?

Alcohol is usually appreciated, so are generous tips.

I think you should expand this post to give us some more information. How should a librarian approach their clientele to best secure a date? (i.e.; offer homeless person your number?) and maybe more tips on dating for librarians. It's hard for librarian women. Men librarians have it easy--they have all the women librarians after them....

ugh, not at my library. All the male librarians here are eunuchs.

Jenny S. ... the trick is to access patron records and copy down name, address, phone number, and email address. That gives you pretty much all you need to start either a stalking or a dating relationship with your patrons.

I'm not saying I've done that, of course, just that IF . . . .

This tactic is not altogether OK in an academic library setting, though of course we are legally all adults here.

The staff and the homeless people, that is. The students, bless their underdeveloped souls, are still in that grubby stage. There's a Rodney Dangerfield bit in EASY MONEY, where his child photographer character asks a subject how old she is. She flashes five fingers. Rodney responds, great, call me when you're this old, flashing ten fingers twice. I'd add another five to that, but hey, Rodney probably knew what he was doing.

Our security guard said, "I would never go out with him [creepy customer]... actually, I mean I would never take him out, because I'd be the one paying!"

While there are many dating websites catering to wealthy singles, SeekingArrangement is the only true dating website where beautiful singles such as college students, struggling artists, single moms, aspiring actresses or models, and that typical girl next door can find wealthy benefactors or patrons for mutually beneficial relationships.
