Librarians should celebrate monumental workplace victories with Gatorade showers. A meeting that lasts less than one hour? Give the committee chair a Gatorade shower! Faculty members who return books before their due dates? Give them a Gatorade shower! A class in which students make eye contact and respond to you? Give yourself a Gatorade shower! While costly clean-up can be an issue, the rarity of these events should minimize any damages.
Ask the readers: What "victories" would deserve a Gatorade shower @ your library?

Someone acutally bringing their library card with them.
Somebody who can describe a book more accurately than "Oh, you know, that book you had on display last year, has this cover with a picture of a cat on it ... "
a day without bitching or gossiping.
Someone who says, "Yes. I did check out that book and I did bring it back late. I am so sorry. Here is my overdue fine and a little extra to pay for all your time in tracking me down."
The chief librarian actually using her library cards as opposed to her usual MO of taking materials home and leaving us to turn the library upside down when a patron wants said item.
Heh. I actually have been known to apologize politely and sincerely for an overdue book. Only the "little something" I added was home-made cookies. It helped that the librarians knew me, of course. :)
Faculty members who actually check out books through the circulation system instead of "just borrowing them for a little while."
When a faculty member actually provides complete and ACCURATE citation information when requesting journal articles via interlibrary loan.
A student who actually is able to get a seven day loan book instead of stressing out on a short two hours one because he/she ACTUALLY LOOKED IN THE CATALOGUE.
Patrons who actually check out a book rather than running as fast as possible to the walls of computers.
Gatorade shower for paying the fine on the only interest-free loan they'll most likely ever get.
Gatorade shower for knowing how to use the automated checkout machines.
Gatorade shower for re-filing the Consumer Reports magazines in the proper location so the rest of us can find them.
Those patrons who call the library to place a hold on an item and who actually know where their card is, can retrieve it in the same fiscal year and can read the digits accurately and neither to quickly nor too slowly deserve a Gatorade shower (with their choice of flavor) when they come to pick up the item.
A day without ANYONE looking at porn in the computer lab!
Faculty members understanding that it may take more than three days to retrieve the rare, hand-typed, Middle English booklet from Bulgaria through interlibrary loan.
When a patron actually tells you what they want and not just stand there and stare at you at blankly with their library card thinking you can read their mind
When the patron finds the book drop with 4 signs before waiting for you to physically take said book return, that patron deserves a Gatorade shower.
